Show System Integration Medialon Basic Project at City Tech

Ever wondered what it takes to control lights, video, and audio — all from a single keyboard? Here's a behind-the-scenes look at a hands-on project I built with my classmate Daniel Hui during our Advanced Show Control class with the incredible Professor John Huntington at City Tech.

What Did We Build?

We created a fully integrated show control system using Medialon — a powerful platform used by real professionals in live events and theme entertainment. Here's what we had running:

🎬 A BrightSign player — handling audio and video playback

💡 A MIDI-controlled dimmer — bringing a light fixture under our command

🎹 A MIDI keyboard as the trigger — the magic controller that triggers different events

By mapping different keys on the keyboard, we could fire off audio, video, and lighting cues on demand — just like a real show operator would in a professional production environment. Or how guests can interact with the experiment in a themed environment.

See It in Action!

Check out the video below to watch the system come to life! 🎥

(Quick heads-up: YouTube muted part of the audio due to a copyright flag on the music — but trust me, it sounded great live! 😄)

This project was a fantastic way to bridge classroom learning with real-world show control skills.
